SAP is currently expanding the global Data Science team that is responsible for building advanced analytics solution content, leading data science demand generation, and driving innovation initiatives from a business to a data science perspective.
The SAP Data Science team brings value to its customers by helping them map Data Science solutions that improve business results based on scientific analysis of large amounts of business data.
The SAP Senior Data Scientist works with SAP strategic customers, SAP data science teams and SAP partner ecosystem to bring value to its customers by helping them identify and manage Data Science solutions that improve business results based on scientific analysis of large amounts of business data.
One example for such a data science solution is price optimization for retail stores: Retailers collect huge amounts of data on their pricing and related sales volumes. Mathematical models can predict future sales based on the price of a product and external factors (like the season of the year) and then determine the optimum price for each product to maximize profit.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
For the Senior Data Scientist position, we are considering professionals with exceptionally high analytical problem-solving skills. A strong interest in scientific and technical work is required. Candidates are expected to quickly develop business consulting and sales capabilities on the job, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international team environment.
The ideal candidate covers the following expertise areas:
Background:
Master/PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Analytics
Data Science Modeling
Industry background
Business Development
Project / Program Management
Ideally you will have an EU passport as there will be extensive European travel
Personal skills:
Learn new mathematical or technical methods quickly and with little guidance
Capable to participate in the sales process as a data science subject matter expert
Program Management skills
Ability to deliver clear, concise presentations to non-scientific audiences
High energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic; “can do” attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluent English is a must.
Customer facing skills:
Execution of Business to Data Science Workshops
Capture customer innovation requirements and translate them into solution specifications
Management of Data Science projects
Explain complex information in a clear and precise manner
Create and deliver c-level presentations
WORK EXPERIENCE
6+ years related work experience
Consulting experience
Technical experience is required in most of the following areas:
Data mining and predictive analysis in: R, Python,
Programming: JavaScript, Java, HTML, Hadoop, Scala
Software architectures: n-tier, SOA
Database servers, for example: SAP HANA, Sybase, Mongodb, Apache Spark
Database programming: SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL
Data warehousing/reporting/ETL: SAP BusinessObjects
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
