Senior Project Controls Manager
 
Purpose of the Job

Lead and manage AJC’s Group Project Controls function to provide overall strategy and leadership to project controls activities in contracting BUs in order to deliver projects within set baselines.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Responsible for managing AJC’s Group Project Controls activities and accountable for project monitoring across the group.

Key Result Areas

• Projects budget
• Monthly cost report
• Project Controls framework
• Project control performance indicators/ benchmarks
• Maximizing of cash flow
• Project delivery as per commercial and contractual deliverables
• Claims Management
• Management reporting to Senior Management
• Operational improvement
• Department strategy designed and implemented
• Department plans established
• Required department projects identified
• Department’s budget and budgeting cycle managed
• Department policies and procedures developed and overseen
• Compliance to safety, health and environment in place
• Risks addressed and mitigated
• Changes to legislation monitored
• Culture of performance instilled
• Department team guided, mentored and developed
• Key talent recruited
• Feedback given to subordinates and superiors

Position Requirements – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Qualifications

Mandatory:

University Graduate in Engineering or related field

Desirable:

• MBA
• Formal training in Project Management
• Membership in recognized project management association such as PMI or APM   

Experience

Mandatory:

• Minimum 20 year’s experience in Project Controls in a contracting business
• Extensive experience in estimation, budgeting, planning and cost control

Desirable:

• Strong working knowledge of project management software including Primavera and RIB
• Knowledge & Skills

Mandatory:

• Strong understanding of engineering and construction projects
• Strong understand of the principles of project management
• Profound commercial & construction industry acumen

Desirable:

• Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
