Hatch’s Operational Performance practice focuses on our clients’ operating plants, supporting operations and maintenance aspects. We have an integrated offering focused on improving our client’s bottom line, by supporting client operations to achieve optimal performance and reliability of their assets. We do this by bringing the best of what Hatch has to offer to client operations.
We are seeking a Data Scientist to work with our Asset Management and Performance Enhancement teams to develop business intelligence solutions in support of our client’s operations.
Your key responsibilities will encompass:
Data capture, including programming and data modeling
Data analysis including inferential statistical analysis, regression analysis and predictive and prescriptive modeling
Translating numerical data and delivering compelling presentations
Suitable candidates will offer:
A Bachelor Degree qualification in Data Sciences (i.e. Mathematics, Physics etc.)
Up to 2 years post-graduate experience, ideally obtained in an operational mining or metallurgical environment
Strong numerical and statistical skills and use of tools including: R, Excel, SAS, Rapidminer or others
Programming and database development experience including data pipeline development; Familiarity and ability to use Hadoop, Java, Python, SQL, Hive, and Pig are core essentials.
Data Modelling, Warehouse, and Unstructured Data Skills
Visualization Tool Skills
A demonstrated ability to translate numerical data and draw meaningful conclusions and tell a story
Experience on shut downs or prep plants
Strong communication skills and the ability to enthusiastically deliver technical presentations
