This new position will report directly to the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) who encourages out-of-the-box thinking and supports a fresh, creative approach to merchandising. This role will require a thoughtful balance of consumer art and marketplace science – creative inspiration and data analysis.

Overview:
The responsibility of the Director of Merchandising is to be the key liaison between the Design, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing teams and deliver distinctive, dynamic, compelling product assortments and product-based brand experiences.

Responsibilities:
- Develop global, strategic merchandise initiatives to support company business and financial goals as well as overall brand vision
- Leverage customer knowledge and sales channel strategy for category and assortment definition
- Lead seasonal merchandise initiatives, including visual merchandising plans, for all selling platforms and global markets
- Collaborate with Product Management to establish and manage master line development and calendar
- Participate in product merchandising presentations and quarterly recaps to cross-functional partners
- Partner with CCO to drive plans for new product and category opportunities and work with Product Portfolio Director to further evaluate and refine
- In collaboration with CCO, evolve product point-of-view and vision, as necessary, to remain appropriately innovative and relevant
- Perform all other assigned tasks and requirements as needed
Accountabilities:
- Establish short and long term merchandising strategies to ensure Scentsy continually offers fresh and exciting product and category assortments
- Identify and maintain product and category review and improvement processes in collaboration with the Product Portfolio Director
- Develop compelling visual merchandising strategies across the “party plan” business model
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree of Business Administration a plus
- 8+ years of management line merchandising experience in a multi-chain retail environment
- Visual merchandising experience
- Creative portfolio required
Expectations:
- Adhere to all established procedures, policies, and safety rules as outlined by the Company
- Expected to work 40 hours per week; some overtime may be required
- Some domestic and international travel may be required
- Ability to translate creative vision into commercial needs
- An understanding of global markets and ability to grasp cultural and commercial nuances
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective business partner relationships
- Ability to interact with multiple departments and with employees at all levels
- Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities, learn on the fly, and foster cohesion
- Exhibit a solutions-based, creative problem-solving approach
- Collaborative with strong influencing skills
- Highly analytical balanced with keen creative abilities and vision
- Working knowledge of computers and all applicable software including Microsoft Office Suite
- Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking up to 10% of the time
