Opening for Senior Videographer and Research Writer with New York University Abu Dhabi

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Senior Videographer and Research Writer to serve as NYU Abu Dhabi’s chief Science communicator who will be tasked with developing, producing, filming and editing video products to be presented on the University’s public channels; additionally, the suitable candidate will be expected to conceive, draft, edit, and publish written works highlighting the University’s Science and Research output.

S/he will also establish and maintain an archive of research-related materials, produce multimedia content and provide editorial support for other NYUAD departments. The candidate will be a member of the Public Affairs team, but the Office of the Provost will also set priorities for this position.

The position holder will spend the bulk of her/his time working with the University's centers, labs, and faculty to determine the ways in which their research initiatives can be updated and/or shared.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, produce, film, edit and publish video products for the University’s communication channels highlighting science and research output
• Conceive, write, and edit content for the research pages — which include both NYUAD Institute projects and faculty initiatives — on NYUAD's public website as well as research-related documents, blog posts, and print publications; ensure quality and consistency of all content to promote NYUAD's research initiatives and expand their online presence.
• Produce non-video multimedia – including animation graphics and photo galleries – in support of research content and work with Web Services to incorporate them online and into video presentations to illustrate/ elevate the promotion of NYUAD's research initiatives.
• Develop, maintain, and manage an archive of research-related materials, including presentations, photographs, and videos to establish and maintain a record/database of NYUAD's research-related materials
• Assist/strategize media and social media outreach and placement to maximize publicity of NYUAD research initiatives & content via social media (such as YouTube and Twitter), press outreach (via EurkeAlert and related websites) and the Research section of the NYUAD public website
• As needed, assist with Public Affairs and University-wide photography requests
• Assist with writing projects for other University departments to provide University-wide editorial support

Education Requirements

Essential
Bachelor's degree in Arts and Humanities, Journalism, or other related disciplines

Experience Requirements

Essential

• At least three years of progressive relevant experience, preferably in Higher Education
• Science communication experience and/or experience working in an academic research environment
• Familiarity with video production and editing suites, preferably Adobe Premiere CC
• Animation software such as Adobe After Effects
• Camera literacy, preferably with Canon cameras
• Familiarity with various style guides (Chicago, AP, etc.)
• Excellent command of the English language and grammar
• The ability to distill complex research topics, generating content laypeople would understand
• Excellent writing, editing, and interviewing skills
• Organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
