Opening for Government Affairs Analyst MEA with Ford Middle East & Africa

Job description

  • Analyzes emerging regulatory and legislative issues affecting the MEA Business Unit and its regional operations (with an initial, immediate focus on MENA); consults with managers to determine the impact on business practices, operational costs and efficiencies, and profitability.
  • Prepares policy position documentation and briefing materials for meetings; participates in Policy Committee activities as needed to ensure corporate alignment key areas of policy focus include, but are not limited to, political environment, trade agreements, government incentives and government support programs, legislative and regulatory requirements of the region’s automotive policies
  • From time to time supports and participates in lobbying activities;
  • Supports the Director with the coordination of the BPR (Weekly Regional Business Plan of the Function) by collating and consolidating inputs from the GCR managers and key stakeholders
  • Supports the Director and managers (as needed) on ad hoc departmental administrative projects /requirements as they might emerge
  • Supports building relationships with government officials by setting up meetings, facility tours, and developing tailored events
  • Helps develop and helps execute advocacy strategies to favorably influence legislation and regulations;
  • Supports the Director and Managers by providing coordination leadership for Operation Better World and related Ford CSR activities for the MEA region
  • Assists with development of Company positions and communication with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepares compelling reports and presentations on a variety of industry and Company topics to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Researches & determines key data with which to keep abreast and communicate to the Director of Governmental Affairs, and as needed to support the department Managers 

Skills & Abilities:

  • undergraduate degree in political science, business , or communications;  graduate degree highly preferred although not a must; well organized, effective and efficient work ethic
  • strong policy and business analytical acumen
  • Strong Presentation skills – written and verbal; able to walk people of various levels of an organization through  often complex data utilizing efficient and effective methods, as determined most appropriate for the audience and contents (i.e., Excel tables vs graphs vs PowerPoint decks)
  • Relationship building – able to read and connect with key business partners (internal and external) and establish collaborative partnerships
  • Team Building – ability to thrive in a highly matrixed and extremely diverse workforce
  • Strong MS Office suite computers skills – especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Fluency in English & Arabic.

Experience:

4 to 6 years of governmental affairs experience in the region and at least 2 years with a major organization
Experience working in the Middle East and Africa political and/or business environment a plus
Knowledge of automotive industry a plus
