Opening for Business Planning Manager - International Corporates with Standard Chartered Bank

Job description

The scope of this role is wide ranging and covers the broad spectrum of the Client Coverage business. As a consequence, the role will involve a combination of routine, project and ad-hoc work of a strategic and tactical nature.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Financial Performance & Forecasting
  • Support the Head of International Corporates, UAE in delivering superior and well balanced financial performance by work closely with the Business teams and Business Finance in tracking and monitoring financial performance against set financial objectives.
  • Preparation & presentation of performance, portfolio & client analysis, and the identification of business opportunities including the implementation of key actions.
  • Support the budget and forecasting process
  • Actively manage the business pipeline in close coordination with the Coverage and Product Partner teams.

Business Strategy

Work with the International Corporates UAE Head, along with CEO UAE, Regional and Group management, to drive strategy creation and execution and in particular highlight and resolve trade-offs between competing investments and agendas.

Preparation of the annual strategy, setting business targets & objectives, business performance metrics and productivity ratios.

Control & Governance

  • Support IC in maintaining a strong and appropriate control environment, in collaboration with the Business Risk Manager.
  • Constantly review and refresh the framework for monitoring, identifying, measuring, assessing, reporting and escalating all material risks for which the International Corporates UAE Head is accountable for.
  • Co-ordinate audits and other reviews and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Working with IC, CDD Lead, CDD Risk Management and the CDD Hub to continuously improve the efficiency of the CDD process.
  • Oversight the operational risk support infrastructure through close interaction with the Business Risk Management team in the UAE.
  • Operational Delivery & Excellence
  • Specific focus on creating and driving process and operating efficiency across UAE by owning and drive initiatives which create operational infrastructure excellence and which align and support the strategic ambition of the business.
  • Work closely with the Group COO's office in the implementation of the Group COO's business agenda - Centres of Excellence approach to improve key processes free up front-office time to focus on sales-related / revenue generating activities through combination of (i) Operational excellence ("OE") and (ii) Optimal operating model ("COE"):
  • Operational Excellence aims to * Understand and measure the process & major pain points. Process redesign to simplify, eliminate, automate, hub etc.
  • Support the set up of the MENAP Middle Office.
  • Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management
  • Manage the International Corporate balance sheet in line with objectives by working closely with the sales teams, Money Market Sales, Transaction Banking and ALM.
  • Actively manage the liquidity requirements of the business.
  • Manage the asset sell down program
  • Human Resource Management / Leadership

Credit Risk

Work in conjunction with Risk to set and monitor client portfolio, risk exposures and client strategy;
Key Relationships will need to be built with the following:

* Global and Regional Institutional Corporate management
* Global and Regional Product Partners
* Corporate and Institutional Banking MENAP Team Heads
* Regional & Country CEO's
* Regional Support Function Heads (Human Resources, Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, Operations, Finance, Credit etc.)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Due to the breadth and complexity of the role, a high level of proficiency in multiple dimensions is required, including (but not limited to):
  • Self-confidence with a high level of drive, dedication, pride and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Adept analytical skills
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to build lasting and strong internal relationships at senior levels and across borders, developing a strong and broad network of contacts within the Bank.
  • Very adept communication skills, both written and oral, with proven ability to distil information into incisive reports and presentations.
  • Excellent analytical and finance skills, with proven ability to interpret, analyse and present financial information and performance metrics.
  • Detailed working knowledge and understanding (including business drivers) of product-level P&L, economic revenue, risk-weighted assets under Basel II / III.
  • Strong business acumen, with good knowledge of risk, product and operational activities and processes.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables in a timely and effective manner.
  • Proved leadership aptitude, as well as the ability to positively influence business, product and governance teams.
  • Strong core/business values given the nature and sensitivity of the role.
  • Preferably dual language skills; English essential, Arabic preferred
