Under the guidance of the Media Supervisor and Media Director, this position is responsible for developing media objectives and strategies for a designated client base. The position is accountable for the development and execution of the media plans, projects and programs. Under the guidance of the Media Supervisor and Media Director, this position is responsible for developing media objectives and strategies for a designated client base. The position is accountable for the development and execution of the media plans, projects and programs. Media Planner/Buyer will interact within the media team, internal integrated team, clients, media representatives, industry personnel, and external vendors.
- Analyzes and develops media objectives and strategies based on client objectives as provided via communication briefs and media project requests.
- Attends client meetings and conducts follow-up correspondence as needed.
- Compiles, analyzes and evaluates information and statistics on various media and related market research.
- Develops, prepares, and presents media plans and POV’s, budgets and rationale.
- Evaluates, determines and recommends media vehicles and tactics. Reviews and evaluates media proposals as submitted.
- For on-line, leads reporting, optimization (creative and ad placement) and analysis/ROI of all plans.
- In conjunction with managers, oversees Assistant Media Planner and Intern projects and work, ensuring accuracy and providing direction/feedback prior to issuing to account team.
- Maintains and builds professional relationships with clients and media representatives.
- Maintains awareness of new media, media futures/trends, market conditions and demographics data as they pertain to the client base.
- Maintains knowledge of ratings services, media formulas, and related media functions.
- Negotiates and maintains media costs and position placements, including stewardship of plan from concept to final invoice reconciliation.
- Responsible for all media authorizations and contracts, including proper documentation of all approvals, signed documents and revised documents.
- Secures accurate media specifications and provides to account team. Works with account team to develop and maintain media grids and added value.
- Secures added-value as part of plan negotiations achieving client objectives, as well as provides appropriate recaps of executions.
- Secures complimentary subscriptions for account groups and clients.
- Should have understanding of research tools and systems, including ad serving tools including Doubleclick, Google Analytics, and Omniture, as well as other analytical tools such as @Plan, ComScore, IMS, Media Tools, etc.
- Updates all media flowcharts, budget reconciliations, and plans as necessary.
- Will work across all media, including broadcast, print, OOH and on-line (banner advertising, search engine marketing and acquisition strategies/tactics).
- Working with manager, researches and develops new media strategies, customer profiles, concepts and cross-promotional opportunities, implements creative planning, and prepares and conducts related written and verbal presentations to clients and internal teams.
- Works with manager to analyze and monitor results of media campaigns/schedules as prepared by buyers, prepares follow-up presentations and recommends optimization strategies.
