Job Opening for Senior Manager – Food Safety & Quality with Emirates Flight Catering

Job description

 This position is within the Technical Department and reports to Senior Vice President – Airport Catering Services.

The job holder is required to develop, implement and maintain Quality and Food Safety Management systems of Food Point with an objective of compliance with HACCP, Halal, QMS standards adopted by Food Point with a customer service excellence approach clubbed with prompt issue resolution while working in close coordination with all stakeholders in all business areas and recommend scope for improvement thereby ensuring that the company meets all regulatory quality and food safety requirements including but not limited to local regulation as well as individual clients’ committed standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the functional goals through the leadership of Technical Department with a Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management focus – this includes setting long-term goals, KPIs and processes to ensure effective fulfilment in line with organizational goals.
  • Set individual objectives and manage the performance, development and motivation of staff, provide formal and informal feedback & appraisal – in order to maximise employee & departmental performance, whilst reflecting the Company’s business goals.
  • Establish high levels of quality, accuracy and process consistency across the team and ensure these are appropriately integrated with other planning processes within the Company.
  • Work closely with procurement functions in assessing suppliers and recommending qualifying / disqualifying them through an evaluation process in consultation with the management.
  • Establish key performance indicators, monitor ongoing performance, and improve performance against set goals.
  • Undertake QMS Performance Measurement and produce process management and statistical analysis.
  • Advise Senior Management in developing Strategic Improvement plans and monitor their implementation.
  • Develop, plan, conduct and analyse Surveys relevant to the Quality Management System including internal (internal customer needs analysis) and external (customer satisfaction survey).
  • Periodically review Food Point QMS and Food Safety procedures to bring them up to date with local regulations and international standards.
  • Evaluate the overall processes/workflow plan of Technical Department in Food Point and propose ideas towards automation; evaluate and develop processes and systems in order to ensure maximum focus of the associates remains on core deliverables of the team eliminating non-value added activities including but not limited to data, communication, follow-up, diaries etc.
  • Plan, organize and develop long-term strategies in team roles and responsibilities in order to recruit, train and develop a world-class quality and food safety management team portfolio under direct leadership of the jobholder.
  • Act as key contact between the Company and the External Auditor / Certifying body and ensure execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with the established quality standard.
  • Review and recommend improvement in the work procedures and the Quality Manual in addition to providing guidance on setting up and maintaining quality controls.
  • Ensure that all food handling teams fully understand the food hygiene and safety procedures in order to secure a risk free catering environment in an overall leadership role for this aspect of the business.
  • Direct and manage corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures all teams remain focussed on primary objectives of client satisfaction with positive and profitable customer feedback on the front of quality and food safety parameters.
  • Manage Quality and Food Safety teams assigned to carry out random process verifications, traceability checks, audits, swabs, and microbiological examinations; and maintaining the quality management system as well as food safety standards.
  • Investigate all kinds of client complaints on quality or food safety aspects, including but not limited to foreign objects, packaging, appearance or adherence to specifications, and prepare a preventive action plan for the respective division to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures the company is meeting the Dubai Municipality and Public Health Department regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies on behalf of the company and ensure ongoing compliance with the established standards.
  • Develops and prepares relevant business presentations & proposals for improving the communication and work processes in managing customers. Review customer feedback both negative and positive on a regular basis for corrective action and to ensure best practice for all clients.
  • Understands customers’ needs, service those needs, and maintain & develop positive business relationships with a customer’s key personnel involved in or directly relevant to supply chain activities.
  • Collaborates with staff, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, and to clarify management objectives.
  • Provide full support by taking affirmative actions on recommendations made to working processes, work behaviours and conditions to ensure that all employees have a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Holds Occupational Health & Safety as a core principle by leading actions to proactively eliminate/control hazards and drives a behavioural approach to safety first within the team
