Job Accountabilities linked to Objective Areas
- Responsible for driving world-class media planning and strategy in assigned regions / markets or Business Units, translating brand and business objectives into actionable media objectives.
- Work with internal Advertising and Insights team to develop a deeper understanding of our target audience in each market and media landscape in order to improve planning efficiencies.
- Work closely with MMCs and Advertising Teams to set optimal market / regional budgets and agree strategic objectives according to market / Brand requirements and commercial priorities.
- Lead and inspire local media Agencies and regional Hub’s to develop creative media solutions (offline & online) whilst ensuring that they are soundly rationalized and thought through.
- Support Agencies and internal Advertising teams in the development and implementation of content/ media partnerships furthering brand engagement and conversations with consumers.
- Drive discussions with Advertising, the Digital team, and the MMCs to agree media KPI’s and ensure that the right metrics are being monitored and optimized against. Ensure campaign learnings are incorporated into future planning.
- Work with other Media Managers to develop global planning frameworks to ensure consistency in Brand and Tactical media planning across markets /BU’s including standardized measurements of success and guidelines to support planning on specific verticals / platforms.
- Support the VP- Media /Media Lead to optimize media agency performance across hubs and individual markets. Drive the annual agency appraisal process in assigned regions/markets or BU’s.
- Facilitate regional trading audits to ensure contractual commitments are being fulfilled and media rates in market remain competitive.
- Collaborate with other Media Managers, Brand and Specialist Teams to plan and execute integrated global campaigns. Lead localization of global media / channel strategies.
- Champion brand safety and digital transparency. Ensure that all efforts are made by the agency and internal stakeholders to deliver brand safe and brand suitable ad placement. Monitor the quality of digital inventory via third party monitoring tools and ensure that under-performing publishers are held accountable by the agency.
- Share best practice ideas from across the network in order to improve strategic thinking and foster innovation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent), preferable with a degree in Media or Marketing
- A post graduate qualification from a master’s program or a professional marketing institution (for example a diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing) would be a distinct advantage as would an Honours degree. However, candidates falling short of educational requirements but with suitable work experience will be considered.
Experience:
- 5+ years in Media – planning and buying.
- Experience in a senior media position in an international media agency, responsible for strategy and optimization
- Preferable to have some Client Side experience
- Experienced and knowledgeable in digital and new media channels
- Experience in the airline/travel industry is preferable.
- Supervisory/management experience required.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent communication skills are critical.
- The ability to review and evaluate media strategies and tactics is important, as is the ability to prioritise and time-manage due to working on several projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
- High degree of digital expertise
- He/she must be familiar with various media planning tools
