Cavendish Maxwell is hiring Senior Building Surveyor

A unique opportunity has arisen for a chartered building surveyor to join a fast-growing project and building consultancy department in an established Dubai-based chartered surveying firm. The ideal candidate will possess good technical knowledge and preferably have experience of working in a private practice. Supported by the head of department, you will be involved in a broad range of client instructions including core building surveying, design and project management instructions.

Our diverse workload currently includes offices, retail, commercial/educational establishments and residential towers in the exciting work dynamic of Dubai. Our project portfolio covers minor works through to high-end schemes valued at several million.

Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on schemes and projects and determining requirements
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule
  • Preparing scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works
  • Organising documents for tender and advising on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes
  • Determining the condition of existing buildings, identifying and analysing defects, including proposals for repair
  • Advising on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction
  • Advising on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings
  • Advising clients on property legislation and building regulations
  • Instructing on construction design and management regulations
  • Negotiating dilapidations
  • Advising on the health and safety aspects of buildings
  • Preparing insurance reinstatement valuations for a variety of building types

Requirements:

  • Chartered building surveyor (MRICS)
  • Knowledge of MENA markets and local legislation is desirable
  • Experience preparing high quality proposals for clients to sell and quote for services
  • Experience in planning, managing, monitoring and evaluation and quality assurance
  • Ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload to meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Professional, self-motivated and proactive with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a variety of competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team and have a flexible approach to work
