Hadoop Developer: Product Development Team

Position Summary
Quaero is experiencing tremendous growth and is seeking experienced Hadoop engineers to work with our cutting edge Product Development team. The ideal candidate would be a true technologist who is passionate about staying abreast of technologies. Analytical thinking, ability to innovate and execute on ideas to deliver high quality results are fundamental to this role.
In This Role, You Will
Play lead role in implementing and supporting Hadoop solutions, including design and development of enhancements and data research
Lead database design and development effort for enhancing the product’s Hadoop functionality.
Create and maintain database artifacts, technical documents (functional specs, design document, data model, test cases)
Provide technical expertise and best practices for database support; including data load, performance tuning, job scheduling and monitoring.
Troubleshoot data questions, provide root cause analysis, and issue resolution
Develop & support data validation systems, metadata and ETL infrastructure.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior team members
Coming In You’ll Need To Have
3-5 years on Hadoop, Hive & HDFS is a must.
Knowledge of Oozie is a must.
Experience with Hive UDFs and UDAFs is a plus
Experience in debugging map-reduce jobs is a plus
Knowledge of RDBMS technologies (MS SQL Server/Oracle/MySQL) is preferred.
Knowledge of working on Linux is preferred.
Strong problem solving skills, ability to find the root cause of issues and quickly provide solutions.
Ability to prioritize & work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiar with working in Agile project management framework is a plus
Experience in scripting language and XML a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in technology (engineering, computer science)
