The role holder is responsible for supporting Commercial Banking MENA in maximizing profitability via the use of actionable analytics to support key business objectives. The role holder is expected to support the line manager to deliver a prioritized and agreed project plan through a combination of using data, analyses and business judgment to develop, maintain and improve high quality & validated strategies. The role will also involve working closely with on shore and off shore teams that have a strong alignment with business needs.
The role holder is expected to contribute towards building a centralised centre of excellence in MENA to develop knowledge management and effective customer segmentation strategies, via understanding of market trends / competition, customer profiles, attitudes and needs by advanced data analytics capabilities to maximize business profitability growth.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Supporting the development of profile and reputation of analytics as a function within MENA through effective prioritization of the available resources to deliver against competing business priorities can be a challenge. The role holder would need to be flexible to work effectively and successfully with key stakeholders across multiple sites.
- The role holder is required to possess keen business acumen and strong analytical skills whilst maintaining broad understanding of the CMB business: key value drivers, proposition mix, delivery channels and customer segments. The role holder needs to be able to quickly analyse complex situations, be innovative, identify practical strategies and must provide high quality documentation on own projects team to deliver higher quality outputs first time. The role holder is expected to have a strong communication ability to impart knowledge & understanding across team and business stakeholders.
- Business and customer needs of a wide range of customers (from micro businesses to MMEs with diverse needs and sophistication) must be taken into consideration by the role holder while proactively assisting the business in driving transformation of the business model to cater to well defined customer segments.
- In conducting business across countries with cultural differences, there are major challenges in keeping abreast of the local market conditions and economic environment in the countries where CMB (plans to) operate(s) for which the role holder is expected to provide solid support and constructive advice to Senior Management. Hence, it is expected that the role holder has strong interpersonal and communication skills with sensitivity to the geographical and cultural differences that characterise the range of the countries within the region.
- Effective time and workload management in a technical role can be a challenge. The role holder is expected to stay current with advances in technology (hardware and software) and leading practices in data management and business intelligence and maintain a high level knowledge of available software tool set (e.g., SAS, SQL, COGNOS, etc.) and internal bank systems.
Qualifications
Experience / Qualifications:
- Well-developed analytical skills to extract information from data and translate to business language & financial impacts.
- Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively to ensure delivery of multiple projects.
- Ability to prioritise and work independently under pressure within a team environment
- Ability to filter and prioritise multiple demands, resolve conflicts, and develop consensus
- Experience of applying analytical techniques to data to produce explanatory or predictive results
- Directly relevant analytical experience within financial services or an alternative data driven organization
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work on long, repetitive projects.
- Solid skills in SAS and SQL programming is mandatory for this role. Skills in Microsoft R will be considered;
- Strong technical skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Advanced Macro/ VBA skill
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft Access, Qlikview, and other business intelligence tools will be advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage and control a large number of projects simultaneously.
- Experience in the application of best practices in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Governance and Information Security
- Extensive experience working with structured data and relational database tools, theories and techniques
- Fluent written and spoken English;
- Commercial Banking/ Global Standards/ FCC experience would be a plus.
