Purpose of Role
To holistically service the insurance requirements of a varied portfolio of marine clients situated in the U.A.E. and more broadly in the middle east region. There will also be a focus on new business and continuing to expand our marine client portfolio.
The role includes an opportunity for substantial professional growth and development within a retail client environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining the renewal book of business, expanding client relationships, engaging prospective clients as well as insurance markets and driving new business growth, all in conjunction with the marine team.
There will be an element of team management in this role commensurate with experience, and the role will require the candidate to be able to manage financial reporting of the team’s business including accurate budgeting and similar processes.

Key Responsibilities
- This is a role that encompasses all lines of marine insurance except cargo, with specific focus on Hull and P&I.
- The role is both client and market facing, and includes working closely with clients in understand requirements, as well as placing risks with markets in the region and internationally either directly or through local Marsh offices.
- Working with overseas Marsh offices in ensuring suitable market solutions are identified and secured.
- Reviewing clients’ risk management strategies and insurance requirements, undertaking cost-of-risk and gap analyses, and advising clients on suitable insurance solutions.
- Drafting slips, analyzing loss records, creating presentations to markets/clients.
- Reviewing contracts across multiple lines of insurance between clients and their principals (commensurate with experience and capability)
- New business planning and execution, both directly as well as in conjunction with other client teams as well as the new business team.
- Managing and providing assistance/training to junior team members
- Team management
- Accurate reporting of financial results to senior management as required.
Qualifications

- Marine Hull, P&I and marine liabilities competencies are required, with a focus on Hull and P&I.
- Understanding of fundamental insurance concepts, practices and procedures
- Organizational and time management skills

- Keen and fast learner and able to work in a team environment or autonomously
- Attention to detail and decision making skills
- Leadership and problem solving skills
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the marine insurance industry.
- Knowledge of Hull and P&I insurance is required.
- Suitable insurance qualification (Dip CII / ACII / FCII) will be beneficial to the role.
- A relevant marine legal qualification will be beneficial to the role.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken is mandatory. Working knowledge of Arabic or French will be beneficial to the role
