RESPONSIBLE TO: General Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Leadership, Communication, Planning & Organisation- Products & Assets, Customer Relations, Employee Relations, Finance, Sales, Marketing & Promotions
JOB AIM:
Under the guidelines of the Meridien Procedures & Policies to assess, evaluate and meet the short & long term needs of the hotel to ensure its success. To assist, co-ordinate and organise the day- to- day management of the hotel, to sustain profit growth at minimum costs in all areas of responsibility.
Accountabilities:
Planning and Organising:
Contributes to the strategy and planning activities of the sales function
· Develops the Hotels Strategic Plan(s) and budgets, which accurately interprets the objectives of the business. Uses this to communicate with, and to focus the teams and own efforts.
· Drives the hotel sales and marketing, reservations, F &B initiatives recommending, implementing and monitoring appropriate local activity
· To proactively respond to changes in the local market conditions and provides effective and timely solutions to minimise any detrimental effects. Communicate these changes to central support services.
· Co-ordinates the effective management of all available distribution channels.
· Ensures the revenue implications of all business decisions have taken into consideration market conditions & customer needs to give the organisation a competitive edge
· Ensure measurement processes are in place for all aspects of the hotel.
Leadership:
Develops and maintains Meridien Best Practice to ensure customer/ employee objectives / activities are implemented
· Ensures we are identifying and achieving the targets related to customer and staff needs.
· Manages his management team leading the identification and development process across all areas of the hotel. Follow up these leads ensuring they are developed for the hotel locally.
· Ensures succession planning is maintained.
· Reviews market trends and competitor intelligence in order to lead fair market share
Marketing & Promotions:
Contributes to relevant management meetings to develop and implement local marketing initiatives
· Agrees marketing and public relations activity to support the Hotel Revenue Plan(s)
· Drive and champion corporate contacts to support initiatives
· Reviews along with the Marketing Team the impact on in house / external promotions offered. Works closely with the PR team to ensure that all marketing has successful press and media coverage
· Attend local community activities.
· Ensures that all initiatives are driven by the operations teams to help increase sales
Communication:
Establishes, enhances and maintains productive quality working relationships with key internal and external customers
· To conduct on a regular basis meetings with Department heads / employees to cascade information.
· To conduct on a daily basis operations briefings
· Ensure that directives received are implemented and the relevant personnel are informed
Finance
Ensures the maximisation of all hotel revenue, contributing to the achievement of the hotel budget.
· Maintains accurate control of all Capital Expenditure (self operating equipment), Replacement Reserve etc.
· Co-ordinate, Review and prepare budgets/ forecasts.
· Proactive approach to increases revenue in the key market segments that generate the highest yield.
· Ensures all market trends and competitor intelligence are reviewed and actions implemented.
· Ensures hotel profitability.
· Encourages analysis of performance trends by all team members.
People:
Leads a trained, skilled & motivated team according to the Meridien Departmental Structure.
· Structure of departments reflects the company standard and quality is maintained.
· Ensures that yearly performance appraisals are conducted and Succession Planning is maintained.
· Ensure teams at all senior levels are trained and developed through the use of structured training plans & business based objectives.
· Motivates the team to achieve through the goals and objective set for the organisation.
· To ensure high employee morale through welfare, care and attention.
· Lead appropriately the cross functional teams to investigate, analyse and action plan the concerned areas
· Ensuring that man power and compensations offered are in line with the hotel and market needs
Customer Relations:
Leads a trained & motivated team according to the Meridien Departmental Structure to meet and exceed customer expectations.
· Participate in the monthly Chefs table ensuring we offer a creative and innovation menu at the restaurats
· Participate in the GST and identify, analyse the weaker areas with the appropriate action plan
· Regularly meet with and entertain the hotel VIP when in house
· Maintain a high visibility within the hotel and the local community
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should have following:
- Middle East experience
- 2 to 5 years experience in similar function
- 2 to 5 years experience as EAM in similar size operation
- Strong Leadership focusing on standards, brand and quality
- Rooms background is essential
