Job description
TalentSmart, the company behind the #1 bestselling book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0, and the world's leading provider of emotional intelligence (EQ) tests and training, is looking for a Director of Operations. Reports to both the CEO and President and serves as a member of the core management team.
The director of operations will oversee our day-to-day activities ensuring TalentSmart runs smoothly across HR, financial, order fulfillment, shipping, legal, and general home office functioning and culture. The position develops, directs and implements strategies and systems to meet the business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Improve the operational systems, processes and policies that support company goals and contribute to operational excellence-- specifically information flow and organizational operations.
- Work with department heads to get the best performance from staff.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting and manage constraints in coordination with the CEO and President.
- Provide weekly guidance to bookkeeper on matters of expenses and accounts receivable, payroll, benefits and insurance.
- Ensure that accounting issues are resolved and communicated and implement improvements to merchant, order and accounting systems.
- Manage vendors to maximize benefit and price to TalentSmart. Provide financial reporting by request (BOE, equipment, expense coding, analysis of trends).
- Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of support areas (HR, IT, Finance, Order Fulfillment), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between home office, and sales functions.
- Supervise and coach office manager regarding inventory/warehouse/supplies/shipment issues. Manage staffing needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MBA in business, finance, or a related field. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Exemplary attention to detail, critical thinking, delegation and writing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace. Excels at operating in a fast paced environment. Open to direction, has a collaborative working style and a strong commitment to get the job done. Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization. Ability to look at situations from several points of view and persuade with data and facts.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in operations director, finance or controller role, including experience with bookkeeping, supervising staff, hiring, insurance and vendor management.
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits included.
