The Team

The India Field Marketing team is challenging conventional forms of B2B marketing by conjuring new and enriching campaigns to influence and engage our target audience

The team is aligned to achieving country goals and is actively supporting the India Sales organization by way of its campaigns and proactive digital initiatives---enquiries, brand awareness, positive social actions etc.

Role & Responsibilities

Specific Roles & Responsibilities Include

  • Manager- Media Planning owns the media strategy development, translates these strategies into innovative media recommendations/plans, and is considered the team expert/lead on media-related topics and tasks. The manager media planning should have a track record of building and maintaining successful relationships with media houses & publications and manage day-to-day media operations. The Media Planner will work with Marketing and brand teams, acting as media experts.
  • Acquire comprehensive understanding of Cisco’s overarching marketing objectives and act as the primary media expert for Cisco India & SARRC, including planning, buying and operations.
  • Contribute to media strategy development, execution and optimization across brand, architecture and segment marketing
  • Analyze multiple sources of external data to assist in planning and buying decisions across traditional and digital media by utilizing both online and traditional data sources
  • Plan & buy print, TV & digital media across all digital channels: display mobile, social, paid search and branded content campaigns
  • Plan, manage and execute special projects as assigned
  • Ensure quality control of media deliverables
  • Media Planning
  • Develop strategic channel/media strategy (partners, budgets, allocations, placements, targeting solutions) to meet Cisco marketing objectives
  • Access and analyze third-party and syndicated research with proficiency (@plan, Adrelevence, Neilsen Netratings, Media Metrix, etc
  • Present recommended media strategy across channels: traditional + digital
  • Media Buying
  • Develop and issue RFP's and manage vendor response
  • Evaluate and negotiate returned proposals to determine media selections
  • Develop final buy recommendations/rationales
  • Negotiate campaign-specific contracts/terms with sites as needed
  • Present recommendations
  • Author Buy Authorization and obtain approvals internally at Cisco
  • Media Implementation And Maintenance
  • Gathering of creative spec data for creative
  • Developing insertion orders and purchase orders
  • Trafficking, QA and monitoring of a campaign
  • Invoice reconciliation/Bill-Pay process
  • Manage campaign execution issues/questions
  • Manage vendor relationships including campaign optimization, rates/budget/placement/strategy issues and questions
  • Manage budget throughout campaign
  • Manage performance analysis and communication including reporting, status report presentations & optimization recommendations

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of media planning and buying experience, with at least 4 years of online planning
  • Experience spanning media planning, buying, optimization and performance analysis across multiple mediums including television, print, digital and out-of-home, to help determine the optimal channel mix for future and current campaigns
  • Ability to negotiate aggressive media rates with the various local, regional and national media companies
  • Understanding of ad-serving platforms like Mediamind, DFA etc. and oversee ad tagging, testing, tracking, QA and troubleshooting, working with external partners
  • Functional knowledge on how to measure business impact of new channels, attribution logic, programmatic buying strategies, media mix optimization
  • Advanced knowledge of web analytics tools, data analysis, creating GA reports and presentations to communicate audience insights
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with vendors, partners and internal teams
  • Strong knowledge of the digital marketing industry, trends and new developments
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically, solve problems, make decisions and use sound judgment
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Desired Skills
  • Experience of managing media mandates for blue-chip B2B brands
  • Work with cross-cultural teams
  • Proficiency pulling and analyzing third-party research (@Plan, Neilsen-Netratings, etc.)
  • Hands on experience on SPSS 21, SAS, MS Excel, Power point
  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or advanced degree is a plus
