Job Summary
AECOM are seeking a Proof Read to join the Middle East Specification team in Dubai, on a 6 month temporary contract.
This is an opportunity for an individual to join the Middle East Specification Consultancy team in Dubai on a temporary assignment basis (August 2016 until January 2017) as a Proof Reader of technical specifications and reports.The individual shall generally have a keen interest in attention to detail, spelling, grammar, punctuation and good reviewing skills, previous Proof Reading experience would be beneficial.The proof reader shall be based in Dubai working in a team of Architectural, MEP and Structural specification consultants, reporting to the team lead.
Key Responsibilities :
Proof reading technical specifications and other reports/ documents produced by the Specification Team, using the bespoke AECOM web enabled data base production tool and AECOM’s defined QA/QC forms and process.
Attending regular baseline review meetings to comment on common issues identified during proof reading.
Understand and complete all QA/QC policies and procedures to maintain the high quality standards expected of project specifications.
Review team compliance with defined QA/QC policies and report regularly to the team lead.
Work to tight project deadlines and help accurate and timely delivery of project specifications.
All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
2-4 years post-graduate experience in related editorial, proof reading or document/ quality control role.
Proactive in planning, communication and delivery of work.
Ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines, using excellent organisational skills and being able to prioritise, either under the guidance and instruction of senior team members or independently where required.
Technologically competent with an ability to learn new software and programs.
Ability to use initiative and be proactive.
Ability to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability as well as a “can do” attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and follow up.
Accurate typing ability in English is essential.
Professional conduct and a mature approach to all situations.
Proficient skills in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree qualification is required. The degree subject shall be one that demonstrates written, grammar and punctuation skills, ideally for both UK and US spellings.
Specific editing/ proof reading qualifications or affiliation with industry organisations would be preferred.
